If any person:
Knowingly or willfully makes:
A false statement, or
Furnishes false evidence:
During the course of an investigation under Chapter XIV (Inspection, Inquiry, and Investigation),
Or intentionally tampers with, conceals, destroys, or mutilates:
Any documents, books, papers, or records relevant to the investigation,
⚖️ Penalty:
Such person shall be punishable with:
Imprisonment: Up to 3 years, and/or
Fine: Not less than ₹1,00,000 and may extend to ₹25,00,000.
✅ Objective:
To ensure integrity and truthfulness during investigations and prevent obstruction of justice through fraudulent acts like false evidence or document tampering.
