Subsection (1): Definition of Offence
This subsection criminalizes the act of being a member of a group or gang, either individually or jointly, and committing any of the following acts:
Theft
Snatching
Cheating
Unauthorised selling of tickets
Unauthorised betting or gambling
Selling of public examination question papers
Any other similar criminal act
Explanation: For the purposes of this subsection, "theft" includes:(
Trick theft
Theft from vehicle
Dwelling house or business premises theft
Cargo theft
Pickpocketing
Theft through card skimming
Shoplifting
Theft of Automated Teller Machine (ATM)(
These provisions aim to address crimes committed by organized groups, emphasizing collective involvement in unlawful activities.
Subsection (2): Penalty
Any individual found guilty of committing petty organised crime under this section shall be punished with:
Imprisonment for a term not less than one year, which may extend to seven years
A fine
