Intellectual Property Laws at Israel

Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) has a structured legal framework for the protection of Intellectual Property (IP), encompassing copyrights, patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and enforcement mechanisms. The country is a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OAPI), which facilitates regional IP protection across 17 African nations. 

Key IP Laws and Regulations in Côte d'Ivoire

1. Copyright and Related Rights

Law No. 96-564 (1996): This law governs the protection of literary, artistic, and scientific works, granting authors exclusive rights over their creations. It also covers the rights of performers, producers of phonograms and videograms, and provisions for remuneration from private copying. 

Law No. 2016-555 (2016): This law updates and consolidates copyright protections, including provisions for neighboring rights, traditional cultural expressions, and resale rights. 

BURIDA (Bureau Ivoirien du Droit d'Auteur): The national copyright office responsible for collective management of authors' rights. It oversees licensing, royalties, and enforcement of copyright laws. 

2. Patents and Industrial Designs

Law No. 08/NA (2007): This law establishes the legal regime for patents and industrial designs, including provisions for utility models and plant varieties. 

OAPI: As a member state, Côte d'Ivoire participates in the OAPI system, allowing for the registration of patents and industrial designs that are valid across all OAPI member states. 

3. Trademarks and Geographical Indications

Law No. 08/NA (2007): Also governs the protection of trademarks and geographical indications. Trademarks are valid for 10 years and are renewable indefinitely. Geographical indications are protected to preserve the identity and reputation of local products. 

OAPI: Facilitates the registration of trademarks and geographical indications, providing protection across its 17 member states. 

4. Enforcement and Anti-Counterfeiting

Law No. 2013-865 (2013): This law addresses counterfeiting and piracy, establishing the National Anti-Counterfeiting Committee (CNAC) to combat the production and distribution of counterfeit goods. It also clarifies customs procedures and enhances cooperation among law enforcement agencies. 

Decree No. 2014-420 (2014): Establishes the competence, organization, and function of the CNAC.
