Angola's current legal framework for criminal justice is governed by two key statutes:
Criminal Code (Código Penal) – Law No. 38/20, enacted on 18 December 2020.

These laws replaced the outdated 1886 Criminal Code and the 1929 Criminal Procedure Code, marking a significant modernization of Angola’s criminal justice system.
