Copyrights Law in British Virgin Islands (BOT)
The British Virgin Islands (BVI), a British Overseas Territory, governs copyright through the Copyright Act (Revised 2020), which is based on the United Kingdom’s Copyright Act of 1956. This Act was extended to the BVI by the Copyright (Virgin Islands) Order 1962. 3. Duration of Protection

Literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works: The life of the author plus 50 years.
Anonymous or pseudonymous works: 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the work was first published.
Photographs: 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the photograph was first published.
Films and sound recordings: 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the work was first published.
Broadcasts: 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the broadcast was made
4. Freedom of Panorama
The BVI allows for the use of images of buildings and sculptures located in public places without infringing copyright, provided the use is not for commercial purposes.
5. International Treaties
The BVI is a member of several international copyright treaties, including:
Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works: Provides automatic copyright protection in all member countries.
Universal Copyright Convention: Offers an alternative to the Berne Convention for countries that are not members.
World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO): Facilitates international cooperation in intellectual property matters.
