Syllabus: Himachal Pradesh Judicial Services (Civil Judge)
The Himachal Pradesh Judicial Services (Civil Judge) examination is a three-stage process: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Viva-Voce (Interview). The syllabus for the Preliminary and Main examinations overlaps significantly for the law papers, but the format and depth of questions differ.
Preliminary Examination
The preliminary examination is an objective-type test consisting of three papers, each with 100 marks. The syllabus for the preliminary exam is the same as Papers I to III of the Main examination.

Module on Judicial Sensitivity to Sexual Offences: This includes topics on gender stereotyping, judicial approach to cybercrimes, the role of a judge in protecting victims, and specific acts like the POCSO Act, 2012, The Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, The Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994, and The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

The main examination consists of five descriptive papers.

An essay in Hindi on any topic (out of three choices) - 50 Marks
Composition (idioms and corrections etc.) - 20 Marks
Viva-Voce (Interview)
The interview is for 150 marks and assesses the candidate's personality, legal knowledge, communication skills, and general awareness.
