Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde served as the 47th Chief Justice of India from November 18, 2019, to April 23, 2021, capping an eight-year tenure on the Supreme Court. Born in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in 1956, he began his legal career in the Bombay High Court, later becoming Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court before his elevation to the Supreme Court in 2013. Justice Bobde is known for his balanced, pragmatic approach and for presiding over several landmark cases that have shaped Indian constitutional and social jurisprudence.
