Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar, born on August 14, 1963, in Hyderabad, is a sitting judge of the Supreme Court of India, appointed in February 2023 and set to retire in August 2028. He is the son of P. Ramachandra Reddy, a former Advocate General of Andhra Pradesh, and is known for his integrity, impartiality, and down-to-earth approach. Justice Kumar graduated in commerce from Nizam College, Hyderabad, and earned his law degree from Delhi University in 1988. He began his legal practice in Andhra Pradesh, serving as a government pleader before his elevation as a judge.
Justice Kumar’s judicial career spans several high courts. He served as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court (later Telangana High Court) from 2008 to 2019, was transferred to the Punjab & Haryana High Court in 2019, and became Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court in 2021 before his elevation to the Supreme Court.
