Text of Section 170:

"Whoever, being a public servant, intentionally omits to perform any duty which is imposed on him by law, or intentionally does any act which he is forbidden by law to do, and which act or omission causes injury to any person, shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to six months, or with fine, or with both."

📌 Key points:

Applies to public servants (government officials, police officers, etc.).

When a public servant willfully neglects or omits to perform their legal duty,

Or willfully does an act forbidden by law,

And this act or omission causes injury, loss, or harm to any person,

Then the public servant is liable for punishment.

📝 Why is this important?
