Definition of Certain Terms

1. "Court"
The word "Court" includes any Judge, Magistrate, or any person or body of persons legally authorized to take cognizance of offenses and try cases under this Code or any other law for the time being in force.

2. "Investigation"
Investigation means all the proceedings conducted by a police officer or any other authorized person to discover the truth regarding the commission of a crime.

3. "Judgment"
A Judgment is the official decision of a court regarding the guilt or innocence of the accused and the subsequent sentence, if any.

4. "Police"
The term Police means the police force of a State or of the Union, established under the Police Act or any other law.
It includes all police officers empowered to maintain law and order, investigate crimes, and enforce the law.
5. "Proclamation"
A Proclamation is an official public announcement or order issued by a competent authority, typically commanding a person to appear in court or comply with certain requirements.
It is often used in cases where a person absconds or fails to appear before the court.
6. "Search"
Search means any examination or inspection by a police officer or authorized person to find evidence related to a crime.
It may involve searching persons, places, vehicles, or any movable or immovable property.
7. "Summons"
A Summons is a written order issued by a court directing a person to appear before it on a specific date and time.
It is usually issued to witnesses, accused persons, or others whose presence is required in a case.
