Section 332 - Punishment for causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty
Text of Section 332 CrPC:
Whoever voluntarily causes hurt to any person being a public servant in the exercise of the functions of his office, or with intent to prevent or deter that person from discharging his duty as a public servant, or in consequence of anything done or attempted to be done by such person in the lawful discharge of his duty, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.

Any public servant (like police officers, government officials, etc.) who is performing their official duty.
What is the offence?
Causing voluntary hurt (injury) to the public servant.
Purpose of the hurt:
The hurt must be caused with the intention to:
Prevent or deter the public servant from performing their duty, or
Because of something the public servant did or tried to do in their lawful duties.
Punishment:
Imprisonment (either rigorous or simple) for up to 3 years, or
Fine, or
Both imprisonment and fine.
Summary:
If someone intentionally injures a public servant to stop or punish them for doing their official work, they can be punished under this section.
