The Code establishes several key principles:

June 2023: The law was amended to prevent manifestations of corruption and conflicts of interest during pre-trial proceedings by the prosecutor’s office. It also excluded the powers of the prosecutor’s office to conduct investigations, transferring these functions to investigators of the internal affairs and national security bodies.
