17. Effect of the Act on other laws.
The provisions of this Act shall have effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent therewith contained in any other law for the time being in force or in the memorandum or articles of association of any company which is a shipowner or in any agreement, deed or other instrument having effect by virtue of any law other than this Act.
18. Protection of action taken in good faith.
No suit or other legal proceeding shall lie against the Central Government or any director or administrator appointed by the Central Government or the designated person or any officer or other employee of the Central Government or the designated person for any loss or damage caused or likely to be caused by anything which is in good faith done or intended to be done in pursuance of this Act or any other law or provision having the force of law.
19. Indemnification of directors, etc.
Every director or administrator appointed under section 10 and the designated person appointed under section 16 shall be indemnified by the Central Government against all losses and expenses incurred by him in relation to the discharge of his duties, except such as are caused by his own wilful act or default.
20. Directors, etc, to be public servants.
Every director or administrator appointed under section 10 and the designated person appointed under section 16 shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code (45 of 1860).
