| The Act has been extended to the Union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Pondicherry and Laccadive, Minicoy and Amindivi islands by Regulations 6 of 1963, 7 of 1963 and 8 of 1965, respectively. These islands are now known as Lakshadweep, see Act 34 of 1973.
This Act has been extended to the State of Sikkim with effect from 11.3.1992.
