Utah Constitution – Article XV: Militia
Section 1. [Who are members of militia.]
The militia of the State shall consist of all able-bodied male citizens of the State between the ages of eighteen and forty-five years, except such as are exempt by law.
Section 2. [Organization, equipment and discipline.]
The Legislature shall provide by law for organizing and disciplining the militia, in such manner as it shall deem expedient, not incompatible with the laws of the United States.
Section 3. [Officers — How chosen.]
All commissioned officers of the militia, except those in the service of the United States, or of this State, shall be elected or appointed in such manner as the Legislature may provide.
