Maryland Constitution Article XV - Miscellaneous
Here is the text of Article XV - Miscellaneous from the Maryland Constitution:
Article XV – Miscellaneous
Section 1.
Every officer elected or appointed to any office of profit or trust, under the Constitution or Laws made pursuant thereto, shall before he enters upon the duties of such office, take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation:
_"I, _________, do swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States; and that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the State of Maryland, and support the Constitution and Laws thereof; and that I will, to the best of my skill and judgment, diligently and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice, execute the office of ________, according to the Constitution and Laws of this State."
The Governor, before he enters on the duties of his office, shall take and subscribe the oath or affirmation above set forth, and shall also take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation:
_"I, ________, do swear (or affirm) that I will, to the best of my skill and judgment, diligently and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice, execute the office of Governor of the State of Maryland, according to the Constitution and Laws thereof."
Section 2.
Any person who shall, after the adoption of this Constitution, either in or out of this State, fight a duel with deadly weapons, or send or accept a challenge so to do, or act as a second, or knowingly aid or assist in such duel, shall ever thereafter be incapable of holding any office of profit or trust under this Constitution or Laws made pursuant thereto.
