Example: Article 10 — Public Livestock Markets
Section 9-10-46: Quarantine of Diseased or Exposed Animals
If a market veterinarian identifies a contagious or infectious disease in animals, those animals are quarantined immediately.
The market operator and animal owner must be notified.
The veterinarian may provide treatment, care, and feeding, and the cost is the owner’s responsibility.
Animals may be returned to the owner’s premises under quarantine if conditions are met; otherwise, they remain at the market.
Owners are responsible for all costs incurred during quarantine, including treatment, feed, and housing.
Animals from out-of-state without proper documentation may be held until the Division of Animal Health approves release.
