Arizona Constitution Article 25 - RIGHT TO WORK

Arizona Constitution – Article 25
RIGHT TO WORK

📜 Full Text of Article 25:

“Right to work or employment without membership in labor organization.
No person shall be denied the opportunity to obtain or retain employment because of non-membership in a labor organization, nor shall the state or any subdivision thereof, or any corporation, individual or association discriminate against any person in regard to employment or continuation of employment because of non-membership in a labor organization.”

🔍 What This Means:

Arizona is a "Right to Work" state, and Article 25 enshrines that principle in its state constitution.

✅ Key Protections:

Employees cannot be forced to join a labor union as a condition of being hired or keeping their job.

Employers and the government are prohibited from discriminating against workers who choose not to join or support a union.

This ensures that union membership is completely voluntary.

⚖️ Legal and Practical Impact:

Workers have freedom of choice regarding union membership.

Employers cannot implement "closed shop" agreements, which require union membership.

Applies to public and private sector employment across the state.
