In case of the death, impeachment, or removal from office of the governor, or of his or her resignation or other permanent disability to perform the duties of the office, the lieutenant governor shall succeed to the office of governor, and shall perform the duties and exercise the powers of governor.
In case the governor-elect fails or is unable to qualify, the lieutenant governor-elect shall act as governor until the governor-elect qualifies; and in case the governor-elect is permanently unable to qualify, the lieutenant governor-elect shall become governor.
If the lieutenant governor, while executing the office of governor, shall die, be impeached, removed from office, resign, or become permanently disabled, the president pro tempore of the Senate shall act as governor until the vacancy is filled or the disability removed; and if the president pro tempore is under the same disqualification, the speaker of the House of Representatives shall act as governor.
In case of the impeachment of the governor, or if the governor is absent from the state or otherwise unable to discharge the duties of the office, the powers and duties of the governor shall devolve upon the lieutenant governor.
In case the lieutenant governor is under impeachment, absent, or similarly disabled, the powers and duties shall devolve upon the president pro tempore of the Senate, and then to the speaker of the House, in succession.
