Right to Legal Action:
Any person has the right to prosecute (i.e., initiate) or defend any civil case in Alabama courts.

Right to Legal Representation:
A person can do so either personally (pro se) or through legal counsel (a lawyer).

Purpose:

To prevent discrimination or denial of legal process in civil matters.

To reinforce the idea that courts must remain open and accessible to all citizens for the resolution of disputes.
